如果你是水果校長的鐵粉，你可能會對之前發布的一期視頻有印象：那次的節目中，水果校長首次邀請神秘嘉賓參與錄制，并與她一起教授了基礎西班牙語知識。

她就是法拉古特學校天津校區的外籍教師-Arieta 老師，學生和同事們會親切稱呼她“阿瑞”老師。

01 來自15000公里之外，她是最好的老師之一
畢業于波蘇斯德卡爾達斯大學英語專業，Arie老師出生和成長于哥倫比亞首都波哥大：一個距離中國直線距離15 ,000公里的南美國家。
哥倫比亞是南美洲最多樣化和風景最優美的國家之一：從科科拉山谷到遺失之城再到Cano Cristales 彩虹河，處處都是美景。
母語是西班牙語，Arie老師為何會選擇英語教師這份職業呢：
“At first I wanted to be able to experience and interact with other cultures by using English as the means to do it, but as time has passed, I saw there was more to it. Considering English is my second language, I understand what the students go through and this motivates me to help and guide students to build skills that allow them to communicate in English. “
對很多不熟悉國際教育的人來說，他們選擇一位外教的實力是通過其外表來決定的: 比如一些固有印象的”母語，金黃色的頭發，白皙的膚色”等等，法拉古特學校天津校區為何偏偏會選擇這樣一位哥倫比亞裔教師呢？外聯部主任Yvette老師解答了這一疑問：Arie 老師是因為專業的教學背景身份而從海外招聘而來。

根據Yvette老師的介紹，Arie老師無論是從大學專業，所持有的劍橋英語CELTA教學證書，甚至是曾于非母語國家從事超過10年的專業英語教學經歷等方面，均滿足甚至是高于對法拉古特外籍教師的嚴格入職準則：一切以學生為中心，僅從專業度、職業追求以及對學生的態度來挑選外籍教師。
“她是個特別負責任的老師，可能并不像某些外教那樣一直笑嘻嘻，或者是經常跟學生們一起游戲那種 ，但是她特別認真 。舉個例子：在學生入學面試的時候， 其他老師給我一個綜合評分就可以，她會給我一個很嚴謹的表格， 從各個維度去寫評價。”

何其有幸，在一座國際學校里能擁有來自不同國家和不同文化的專業外籍教師團隊，讓學生足不出戶，就能感受到多種文化交織的文化氛圍。

02 選擇中國，all about my great curiosity
2018年秋季抵達中國之前，Arie老師曾經在哥倫畢業本國以及土耳其有過10多年英語教學工作，也正是因為有過遠離家鄉的旅行工作經歷，讓她對世界的好奇心變得越來越強，“世界那么大，我想去看看”。
“I chose China mostly because of being so different from anywhere else: a place that some people might not choose as their first option. It caused me great curiosity to know about a country I didn’t have so much information about. Mostly my referents of China were that the Chinese are very smart and that they did really good in tests and that the language is very difficult.”
“I wanted to know and experience firsthand how a classroom environment and the interaction teacher-student were. “
抵達學校，準備開始工作
事實上從2018年5月份起，她就已經開始尋求在中國的工作機會，直到7月份，經歷了多次面試，Arie老師有機會與張桂元校長進行了視頻面試，并最終于2018-2019年秋季學期開始在法拉古特天津校區從事教學工作。這一晃已經有兩年的時光。
“There were a couple of things I took intoconsideration before taking the job. One of them was that the school offers its students the possibility of pursuing their undergraduate studies overseas, which involves plenty of preparation for that and lots of exposure to different methodologies, teachers, and cultures. The second one was to be able to teach English to small groups of students, which makes learning far more fruitful and interaction a lot easier and dynamic. The third reason had to do with the city in which the school is located. Living in Tianjin has its perks: it is very close to Beijing, finding your way around it generally easy. Although being described as a small city, there are so many activities going on and things to do. ”
03 嚴厲與溫柔并存，做足夠Real的老師
Arie老師教授的學科是ESL，即：English as a Second Language，以英語為第二語言/外語，這是一門專門針對母語非英語的并把英語作為第二語言的語言學習者的專業英文課程，是外國學生申請美國大學所必修的一門語言課程。我們可以簡單的將其理解為”英語的語言文化課”。
因為是英語基礎教學，所以對教師的要求是極高的：作為一門能夠幫助學生們全面提升英語聽說讀寫能力的基礎課程，進行系統ESL學習，會對未來的海外求學產生非常積極的影響。

正因為這門課程的重要性，所以對很多學生來說Arie并不是個一直笑瞇瞇的”好好”老師，教學的過程中，她甚至會表現的格外嚴厲；學生們甚至有過吐槽：”Arie老師兇起來的時候還挺嚇人的”。
另一方面，上網課期間，當部分學生出現作業提交不及時的情況，她率先會積極了解背后的原因；為了調動學習積極性，她會很認真的研究并分享學生們喜歡的話題。可以說，她是一位讓學生既害怕又想親近的老師。
“I try to keep a balance between the two(ps: strict and kind). Any teacher from any place has rules and sets ground rules from the first day of school. In my case that would be no exception. The way I see rules and the application of them is that it helps students build discipline; it helps them prepare for future college experience. “
課余時間，這還是你們認識的”嚴肅”的Arie老師嗎
嚴厲和和藹并存，不僅僅是因為ESL學科的屬性，更是Arie老師性格使然。與之前介紹過的Chris老師一樣，她也是一位充滿著個性授課風格的外籍教師。
“There was a time when we covered the topic known as quantifiers and one of the best ways to approach it is for students to have data they can look at, analyze, and from which they can draw their own conclusions. “
“For this topic I asked my students to create 5 questions for a survey and they needed to survey between 6 to 10 people. The population could be their own classmates, friends or family members. When students gathered their information, they were asked to organize it in a chart and then analyze it. They transferred the percentages or numbers they got in their analysis into quantifiers, which allowed them to draw conclusions and present their findings to their classmates. ”

作為基礎學科，她的話題設計備受學生們的喜歡。在不同的小組作業中，有趣的話題讓孩子們愿意參與話題分享，在分享中獲得英語詞匯增長，還能將語法知識融入語境中學習利用，更重要的是為其它學科的學習，特別是生物、化學等專業學科的學習做好專業詞匯儲備。
作為一名英語學科教學老師，她覺得最大的挑戰是如何讓學生在課堂上的學習更有效、更有趣；最有效的方法就是使用學生能聽得懂和容易參與的方式，將復雜的知識單純化，讓孩子們在有趣的對話和訓練中掌握學習方法。
“listening, reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, summarizing, interpreting, evaluating, inferring, explaining and problem-solving…”
“聽、讀、寫、說、分析、總結、解釋、評估、推斷、解釋和解決問題”這些關鍵詞，是Arie老師希望通過ESL課程傳遞給孩子們的”英語超能力”，不僅是一份見解，更是她的課程準則。
04 工作外，她享受在中國的每一天
與同事們在一起，上班是同事，下班是朋友
訪談的最后，我們談到了中國這個國家和天津這座城市給她的印象和感受。“I’d definitely like to stay in Tianjin as long as I can. ” 她用了這一句話描述對這里的喜歡。
比起超大城市如北京、上海般喧鬧，她卻很喜歡天津這種相對友好和簡單的氛圍和環境：
“Despite being described as a small city, it is fairly big, easy to navigate due to its excellent transportation system, close to big cities, safe, and convenient when it comes to travel from here to anywhere else. “
因為有限的漢語知識，她只去過幾個中國城市，比如哈爾濱、秦皇島，北京等。她正在努力的學習漢語，爭取能做到真正的”中國自由行”。

面對即將畢業的2020畢業班，她也送上了自己的祝福：
“I wish them a lot of success in the path they have chosen to follow, that their decisions are driven by their dreams and passions, and all the best in the new environment they will soon experience. “
因為是非母語學習英語者，所以更了解非母語學習者遇到的困難，從而想成為一位引路人，這樣的老師讓我們的心溫暖而崇敬。
“A great teacher has little external history to record. His life goes over into other lives. 一名真正偉大的教師沒有什么可供名垂青史的。他的生命都用來影響他人的人生軌跡了.”
法拉古特希望與更多像Arie一樣的老師攜手，為影響更多學生的人生軌跡而繼續努力。
