法拉古特2019屆優秀畢業生徐昊男同學

Dear Ladies and Gentleman:

親愛的女士們，先生們：

Good morning!

早上好！

There are many important guests coming today to our graduation ceremony, welcome, and thank you -for coming.

今天有許多重要的嘉賓來參加我們的畢業典禮，歡迎并感謝您們的光臨。

I am very honored to stand here, on behalf of all Grade 12 students. For all 31 of us, this is one of the most important events in our life. We can only have high school for once， and graduation ceremony for once.

我很榮幸代表所有12年級學生站在這里。 對于我們所有人來說，這是我們人生中最重要的事情之一。 畢竟我們只能經歷一次高中時光，擁有唯一的高中畢業典禮。

First and foremost, we will give our sincere gratitude to our parents and teachers. You have put so many efforts on us. We will never forget you.

Today is the final day of my high school, 1,375 days from the start of my life in AFA. From this day to that, if there is a word to conclude the high school experience, it will be challenge.

今天是我高中的最后一天，也是在法拉古特的1,375天。 從第一天到現在，如果用一個詞來總結我的高中生活的話，那一定是挑戰。

The first challenge is about change. My family decided to send me to study abroad, so I went to Yaohua International Department, which is the predecessor of this school. When I first came there, I noticed that everything was so different from a normal public school. There was only one class, with 19 students. There were many different subjects, such as 4 foreign-teacher courses. There was no teacher pressing students, and there was no fierce competition among classmates. Everything is up to ourselves. We began to think about what should we do.

第一個挑戰是改變。三年前我的家人決定送我去國外學習，所以我選擇了耀華國際部，也就是法拉古特的前身。 當我第一次來到那里，我發現一切都與普通公立學校截然不同。我們只有一個班，19名學生，并且有多種多樣的科目，例如4科外教課程。這里沒有壓迫學生的老師，同學之間沒有過度激烈的競爭。一切都取決于我們自己，于是我們開始思索未來的方向。

The second one is learning. Though we are in a different system compare to public school students, we still have intense study. When I just came here in Grade 9, my vocabulary was about 2,000. Our task at that time, was memorizing a whole book of 2,140 words. It was truly difficult， however, we put a lot of efforts on it. Every morning, we haddictations, and this routine had been repeated for more than 1 year. When it came to TOEFL, SAT, AP, and school courses, I had sacrificed lots of relaxing and sleeping time, just for a little bit of improvement.

第二個挑戰是學習。 雖然與公立學校學生相比，我們處于一個不同的系統，但我們仍然在緊張地學習。當我剛從9年級來到這里時，我的詞匯量大約是2000。而我們當時的任務是記住一整本2140個單詞的書。這確實很困難，但是，我們付出了很多努力。 每天早上，我們都會進行聽寫，這個慣例已經堅持了一年多。當我們開始學習TOEFL，SAT，AP和學校課程時，我犧牲了許多娛樂和睡眠時間，只為了哪怕一點點的進步。

The third challenge was activities. What I really appreciate is that, the school provided a platform, a stage for students to show their capabilities. As a result, students can found their own clubs. Last semester, I made a debate club, which was obviously not successful. During the process, I learned how hard it is, to be a team leader. We have also contended 2 sport meetings, an impressive 12-day long military training, and other interesting events. Moreover, we went to many other countries, and broadened our outlook. In Sri Lanka, some of us have been suffered from insects and blazing sunlight; in Hong Kong, we stayed up late until 4 o’clock, to finish tasks; in AFA Florida, we have experienced sailing in the sea, and real western school life.

第三項挑戰是活動。 我們十分感激學校提供了一個平臺，一個讓學生展示自己能力的平臺。正因為這樣，我們才可以建立自己的社團。 上個學期，我做了一個辯論社，顯然沒有成功，但在這個過程中，我明白了成為團隊領導者是多么困難的一件事。 我們還參加了2次運動會，12天令人印象深刻的軍訓以及其他有趣的活動。 此外，我們還去了許多其他國家，開闊了眼界。在斯里蘭卡，我們中的一些人遭受了昆蟲的叮咬和陽光的照射; 在香港，為了完成任務，我們一起熬夜到四點; 在佛羅里達州的法拉古特總校，我們第一次體驗了海上航行，以及真正體會到了西方的高中生活。

When we just came here in grade 10, things were much worse then. We had no playground, no cafeteria and no airconditioners. the chairs and tables came from the other school, the projector was wobbly with low image quality. The first floor was a depository full of dust, and fourth floor was our dorm. Now, the school looks much better than before. I sincerely appreciate the work done by the school.

當我們10年級的時候，學校的建設比現在遜色許多。 我們沒有操場，沒有餐廳，也沒有空調。使用的桌椅都來自別的學校，投影機搖搖晃晃，圖像也不清晰。一樓是一個滿是塵土的存放處，而四樓就是我們的宿舍。現在，學校看起來比以前好多了。我真誠地感謝學校為我們所做的一切努力。

During the last three years, we have received lots of criticisms from outside, saying that we neither study hard nor behave properly. We do have many problems, but as the first group of students after the school’s departure from Yaohua, we had experienced the hard time of the school.

在過去的三年里，我們聽到了太多來自外界的批評，說我們既沒有努力學習又沒有良好的行為習慣。 我們確實有很多不足，但作為學校離開耀華后的第一批學生，我們與學校互相扶持走過了最艱難的時刻。

The final challenge for us is in the future.We are going to study in a new, exotic environment. Nobody is watching us. I hope all of us can have a great university life. In the alien land, please always remember who you are, what is your purpose to come here, and what is your responsibility.

我們面臨的最后一個挑戰是未來。我們將在一個全新的異國環境中學習。再也沒有人監督我們了。希望我們每一個人都能擁有完美的大學生活。 在國外的土地上，請記住你是誰、你來這里的目的是什么、以及你肩負的責任。

Finally, for Grade 10 and Grade 11s, you are better students than your senior, Work hard to improve yourselves, and you will certainly be successful.

最后，10年級和11年級的學弟學妹們，你們是比我們更為優秀的存在，努力提高自己，你們一定會成功。
